Grasstrack

Here we go guys! Today at the Grasstrack I was given the opportunity to be FPOS for an incident.
Me and a fellow AFA were sat in the FAU when 2 cars collided...one of them nearly hitting the support unit!! Automatically we jumped out and headed for the first vehicle, after looking up, realising the car we walked towards was being seen to, I saw a few Marshals waving frantically at me, so grabbed another AFA and made my way over. Straight away she was complaining of pain in the Lumbar region of her young spine. One of the Marshals' had C-spine control so I called over the ambulance only to turn back and see a distinct lack of Marshal so i took over head control. Talking to the young girl and trying to calm her down as much as i could. The best way i found was telling her there wasn't a scratch on her car...result! Someone climbed in through the window behind her to take control of the head so i could gently remove her helmet ready for extrication. After this I ended up having to climb in to the vehicle myself, in order to assist with the fitting of the cervical collar and the positioning of the KED and carry sheet we used to remove her from the vehicle through the 'passenger' window.
In all it was a very successful extrication that we managed to do with the help of 3 AFAs', 2 ETAs' and 2 paramedics, all putting in their bit to help in the effort to remove the young girl without harming her or the vehicle.
Overall outcome; her spine was cleared by one of the paramedics and she walked out of the ambulance less than half an hour later.

Tri/Duathlon

Today i had to provide medical cover for  a local tri/duathlon...had only one guy to treat. He didn't want to admit himself and instead me and my fellow AFA had to ask him to move to the vehicle. Pretty simple treat really, aggravated a concurrent complaint in his knee so just iced, took obs, strapped it and advised to see his GP about it...again not much to report guys...sorry

I had the joy of being posted to the local festival and garden centre where everything used to happen...unfortunately not the case anymore, lots of walking, treating/doing paperwork for one casualty then stood down so nothing really to report again guys...sorry
